York Anthropology is one of largest graduate programs in socio-cultural anthropology in Canada. Founded in the 1970s, we maintain an ethos of critical scholarship, advanced theory, and innovative methodologies with a commitment to social justice, and producing knowledge that counts. Our faculty are award-winning scholars with international reputations and research interests that span the globe. Graduate students become part of a dynamic intellectual community engaged in thinking and research to critically illuminate the social and cultural life of the past, the present, and projects that look towards the future.
